Urgent plumbing
Gas Line Installation & Repair
Natural gas and propane line work — new appliance runs, repairs, sizing for added load, and the pressure test and permit that make it legal and insurable. Only a licensed contractor should do it.

- A hissing sound near a gas line or meter

FAQ
Gas Lines: common questions
I smell gas — what do I do right now?
Leave the building immediately. Do not flip any light switch, unplug anything, or use a phone inside. From outside, call your gas utility's emergency line first — they will shut it off at no charge — then call a licensed plumber for the repair. This is the one situation where you should not wait for a plumber before acting.
Do gas lines need a permit?
Almost always, yes. Gas work is inspected work in essentially every jurisdiction. Unpermitted gas piping is a real problem at resale and can void an insurance claim after a fire. A licensed plumber pulls the permit as part of the job — ask to see it.
Can a plumber run a gas line for my new range or dryer?
Often, yes, provided the run is sized for the appliance's actual BTU demand and the existing meter and piping can carry the added load. Adding an appliance to a line already at capacity is a common and dangerous shortcut, so ask how the load was checked.
How long does a gas line installation take?
A short run to a nearby appliance is often a single day. Longer runs, buried lines and anything requiring a meter upgrade take longer, and the inspection is scheduled separately.
